This was our first full day in Kansas City and boy did we really get after it. We woke up at 6am (running on 4 hours of sleep) and worked out before heading out to breakfast.
We walked to this Australian style cafe, Banksia, that had coffee and pastries and all the goodies. I got a breakfast burrito to go and we picked up a cinnamon roll as well!

Cinnamon roll all packaged up
The hubs went to conference and I caught up on HGTV, blogs, emails, and even some work stuff. They had a lunch break so we all went to Jack Stack BBQ to check it out! The vibe was different than Gate’s-it was a lot more reserved let’s say.
We got the smoked salmon dip to share…
For our entree we ordered a Kansas City Combo and got the chicken and lamb ribs. We also got Jack’s best which came with the crown prime beef rib (crowd fave), baby back ribs, and beef burnt ends.
Our sides were coleslaw, beans, and a cheesy corn bake.
I think the crown prime beef rib was my favorite piece of bbq all weekend. It was super tender and delicious.
We ended up getting dessert too-carrot cake. It was served warm and the cream cheese frosting was more like melted icing on top of the cake. It was seriously good!
Needless to say we were all pretty full!
After another round of conferences for them and finishing up work stuff for the significant others we all met up to nosh on some bites and mingle. I don’t think any of us were super hungry after lunch so this seemed like a great idea.
They had shrimp cocktails, all types off little toasts, sliders, and a ton of other little dishes. They had these little grilled cheese squares with little cups of tomato soup which were my fave.
They also had some yummy desserts-little cheesecakes, brownie bites, chocolate dipped strawberries, macarons, etc.
There may have been a second plate of dessert…
We tried to go out, but ended up walking around until we ended back where we had at the beginning of the night. There was live jazz that was just ending much to our dismay, but we stayed and chatted till we could chat no more.
The friends came over to our room to watch some random tele and munch on some snacks. Remember the cinnamon roll? Yeah we kinda demolished that. Plus some those Sprout’s Picante flavored plantain chips that I raved about and some pretzels from the airplane…it was quite the snacky night!
They left and we packed a little before crashing into deep, deep sleep.
I LOVE Missouri! That carrot cake looks delicious
