I’ve never thought about doing or going to a crab boil and I have no idea why! The other week the idea struck me and it seemed like a fun little experience so we looked up some places.
We decided on Kickin KAsian! Honestly, I am a bad, bad foodie because I’ve never opened crab and had no idea what to expect.
We got seated and got our bibs and ordered…
We got shrimp with mushroom and quail eggs (also never had quail eggs)
And king crab with corn, potatoes, and brussel sprouts
We seasoned them medium spicy (not that spicy, would go spicy next time) and got their KAsian seasoning on one (cajun spice mix) and Garlic KAsian (cajun with garlic) on the other.
They brought us scissors and a cracking device. The shrimp was easy enough to peel, but the crab was sometimes a stickler.
We would have been okay with spicier seasoning, but otherwise the shrimp and crab were both delicious choices.
The quail eggs were like miniature versions of chicken eggs. Be cautious of the mushrooms though because they get super juicy and will squirt if you bite into it…definitely a one mouthful and be done kind of thing.
This was a very interesting experience all together…it gets pretty messy, but at the end of all the work you get some yummy chunks of seafood so I can’t complain!
We ended our night with SomiSomi! Ube flavored soft serve with nutella coated taiyaki and oreo crumble…NOMS!
Have you guys ever been to a crab boil type place? What did you think?
I’ve never been but am also dying to try it out!!
