Post-Test Weekend

We had a pretty relaxed and chill weekend (last weekend) because we were both spent and exhausted from the busy week.

We still managed to get in a workout, do our grocery shopping, and squeeze in lots of walks πŸ™‚

We also had a nice yummy brunch at Leo and Lily’s. The hubs got their egg white veggie frittata and I got a breakfast burrito!

I did only manage to get down half of this burrito because it was (as the waitress warned me) SO filling!

We were planning on doing some shopping, but soon realized everything was closed due to the Easter weekend so instead we indulged in one…or maybe five macarons. The passion fruit flavor was my fave and the hubs loved the blueberry lavender one.

We had a pretty early dinner of T-Bell and watched some Fixer Upper! Our sweet tooth kicked in and we both decided Go Greek sounded too good to not have so off we went.

Early bedtime since we had early wake up times Monday πŸ™‚ I love having a chill weekend especially when I get to do it with my fave guy. I hope you lovelies are having a great week and I’ll see you Wednesday!

Oh the food we will eat…Great White

After a full day of working out and then doing some indoor rock climbing (my first time, hubs second) we were exhausted and in need of serious nourishment!

We were having trouble deciding where to go and what to eat, but finally decided on Great White. I can’t even tell you how glad I am we decided on this.

First of all the space is gorgeous and secondly the doors open up completely to let in all the sunshine. It’s really well done with a seamless indoor/outdoor eating area. It was already packed by the time we got there, but we were able to snag a table for two pretty easily!

We were too tired to think and ended up going with a breakfast burrito (it’s called Breakfast Burrito on the menu) and Crispy Chicken Sandwich.

Hubby fell in LOVE with this breakfast burrito-the softly scrambled eggs is what did it I think πŸ™‚ He even went as far to say that this was “the best breakfast burrito I ever had.”

The chicken sandwich was pretty spectacular as well! I really loved the use of dill in this sandwich and the side of fries were crispy and perfect.

We really loved this place (the hubs was a BIG fan) and we will be going back to check out more of the menu (or if you’re hubby-get the breakfast burrito again)!

Have you been to Great White? What have you tried on the menu??

I LOVE weekends especially when the hubs and I are off together! We always get into some shenanigans and eat some fun things!

Here’s a weekend recap:

We started Saturday with a workout and brunch! Brunch included breakfast burritos (veggie and hot link-hot link was the fave)

and shared a donut all from Cofax

We ended up walking around the area for a while and checked out some fun shops and ran into this cool huge tree–this pic isn’t doing justice to how big it really was.

After all that walking I was craving some ice-cream and this place really hit the spot!

Since brunch was so late we didn’t have too much of an appetite by the time it was dinner so we had a meal of bread, butter, brie, and olives. I was floored my husband was down to have this as a meal…but I think he enjoyed it πŸ™‚

We ended up catching a comedy show at the Comedy Store! The hubs is a fan of Chris D’elia and that’s the main reason we picked this specific show.

We ended up staying up pretty late and so we got kind of a late start Sunday morning. We woke up and went to workout.

Post workout we grabbed McDonald’s. I can’t tell you how long it’s been since we’ve had Mickey D’s, but I will say the fries are still bomb!

Post Mickey D’s we went for a nice hike. It was such a gorgeous day and we wanted to be as active as possible!

Look at us looking our best! HA!

That’s my “I’m on top of the world” pose

The hike was also to prepare us for these donuts from DK Donuts…

We picked up some groceries and drove home to chill and relax before the work week! I cannot remember to save my life what we ended up eating that night, but I’m gonna say it was something low-key.

What did you guys do this weekend? Let me know in the comments below!

November Eats Part 1

We had a LOT of yummy food in the month of November and I really wanted to share it with you guys so I wanted to throw this together. Let’s just hop right in to the food (per usu):

Noah’s Bagels is our current favorite spot to hit up for an Everything Bagel. This particular day we decided to get a couple of sandwiches. Backstory: This was post-workout, we were starving, and had errands so this was a delicious pick me up!

Square Bar Cafe is a spot we had been meaning to check out so while perusing through an outdoor mall we had to make the stop. We got a mango slushy with boba

Subculture Sandwiches in Long Beach was a major win. The bread is crusty and chewy and their ingredients inside are just as flavorful and delicious as the outside.

Paderia Bakehouse is a bakery I dedicated a whole blog post to already so not much more to say. Check out that post here. We did make a lovely picnic with our Subculture sandwiches and our sweet treats πŸ™‚

Magnolia Bakery has been on my list since forever and I was giddy to go. We tried all the puddings, but stuck with the original (the best IMO). It was possibly the best banana pudding I have ever had.

Leo’s Taco Truck usually has a nice long line, but it goes by quickly and the tacos are worth the wait. They have an amazing toppings/salsa bar. The pickled onions and peppers were my favorite, but be warned that it definitely has a spicy kick!

Milk Jar Cookies is a place I can’t say enough good things about. They have some of the best cookies I have ever had in my life. They are big cookies that somehow remain chewy and filled with all sorts of goodies. I absolutely LOVE this place.

As I was looking through my pictures I realize that this post would be way too long if I keep going so I am going to stop here and make this a Part 1 in a two part series! Stay tuned next Friday to catch the rest. Enjoy your weekend my loves!

Oh the food we will eat…Don Francisco’s

We were first introduced to Don Francisco because of our “let’s try all the coffee” phase (still currently an ongoing situation). We have a Keurig at home and we tried a few flavors from Don Francisco’s and fell in love. The Kona Blend and Hawaiian Hazelnut are our faves!

Anyway, the hubs texted me a pic of a brick and mortar Don Francisco’s he found on Yelp. I may have squealed! Upon further investigating we learned they not only have delicious Cuban coffee, but also Cuban sammies. Uh yes. This was happening!

And so it did! One beautiful Saturday we headed to DTLA to hit up Don Francisco’s. I got a cafe con leche and the hubby got a cold brew. We shared the vaca frita sandwich.

My cafe con leche was a thing of beauty. It was so smooth and creamy and perfectly sweetened. The hubs really enjoyed his iced coffee as well!

The vaca frita contained flank steak, peppers, onions, and garlic mojo sauce between fresh Cuban bread. This sandwich was like no other-the bread was flaky and chewy and crunchy. The contents were saucy and savory and flavorful.

If you love coffee or sandwiches and live in LA you have to check out Don Francisco’s. This will be a pitstop for us when we’re in the DTLA area!

If you live in LA what are some of your favorite sandwich or coffee places? Let me know in the comments!

If you know me at all you know that I have a true love for breakfast and brunch and an even truer love for taco so during our excursions last weekend we decided to make a pitstop for some tacos at HomeState.

I had a nagging headache, but the delicious smells and happy vibes in this place plus the fact we had tacos coming our way made me one happy human!

We ended up getting their queso (cheese sauce for those not familiar with Tex-Mex). The queso was good, but I wouldn’t have minded a bit more heat πŸ˜‰

We got 4 tacos total and since my sweet hubs is not a die-hard breakfast person a couple were non-breakfast tacos.

We got the blanco which included egg whites, mushrooms, monterey jack.

The pecos which had eggs and brisket

The chicken which was achiote, guac, and cabbage slaw

The picadillo which was ground beef, potatoes, carrots, cabbage slaw, and pickled jalapeΓ±os

The tacos were so good and the freshly made flour tortillas really added extra goodness to each taco. We always ask ourselves after visiting a new place if we would return and for this place it was a definite yes!

Brunch at Home

We had some crushed tomato sauce left over from our Hello Fresh pizza night and we hate wasting so I decided to make a fun brunch pizza πŸ™‚

20170818_121957I added a side salad and dressed it by combining tahini and EVOO-so good!

This pizza was super easy and quick: I used a piece of naan bread I already had as the base, layered on some crushed tomatoes, some mozz, salt, pep and chili flakes, and finally cracked an egg over top.

This all happened after a leg workout so I was starving and food never tasted so good! I love using up random ingredients by making something super yummy. What are some fun things you make when you have left over ingredients?
