If you have read my blogs or know me or the hubs at all you will know we have a serious love for NY style pizza. In fact, when we finally get to go to NY and have a slice tears may be shed from sheer excitement.
Yes, in this house we do fan-girl over pizza-don’t judge!
During a recent excursion we were looking for a pizza by the slice spot and found Vito’s. It had to have been divine intervention because we almost missed it on Yelp, but thankfully we caught ourselves.
When you walk in you just smell pizza-the dough, the sauce. Then you see the display case filled with these huge NYC pies and you just know it’s going to be everything you dreamed of and more.
The first time (yes first) we got a slice of margh and a cheese. They warmed it up and we gobbled it down. We burned our mouths, but it was worth it.
The crust was crispy and slightly charred, but still remained chewy. The sauce and cheese ratio was amazing. The bubbly cheese was stringy, salty, and flavorful.
I know I tell you all the time that you know we love (and I mean LOVE) a place when we go back. Well, we went back the next day. It was that good. We just couldn’t stop thinking about it.
This time we got a box of cheese and scarfed down 2 (or was it 3?) in the car because we couldn’t wait to get home. I think that says a lot about Vito’s pizzas. If you love NY style pizza and live in LA let me know if you’ve tried Vito’s and if you haven’t try it and let me know what you think.
Are you NY pizza person or do you prefer something else? Let me know!
